Backflow Issues on Kiawah Island

Every now and then you will go to your mailbox and receive the dreaded "Backflow Notice".  Enclosed will be a form for the Professional to fill out and return to the Kiawah Authorities.  There will also be a list of companies that work on the island that can perform the task.  Here are some comments as well as recommendations of whom to call off of the list.

"To another poster (sorry, I deleted post and don't remember name) who made the observation re exorbitant fees to do "mandated backflow valve check". The even bigger picture, my friend, is one of my pet peeves.  Residential backflow valve checks are simply a tremendous waste of money nationwide. In the history of mankind there has NEVER EVER been a documented case of significant morbidity let alone mortality due to backflow from RESIDENTIAL IRRIGATION
systems.  That's never, nada, zilch!  Enforcement of such an expensive (when looked at nationally) ridiculous requirement is spotty (I don't believe it's required at Seabrook for example, but correct me if I'm wrong) and just stop and consider the many millions and millions of dollars being wasted where it is enforced; that is wasted unless you're a plumber.  Want to get all riled up?  Now here's a cause."

"We use Naumann Plumbing every time we have to do it.  He collects a number of folks when the letters come out and comes out and does several at a time. We fax our paper to him and he takes care of the paper work.  So far the cost is $50."

"We use Al Nauman.  Phone is 843 559 5599."
"Call Mike Hennon with J.M. Hennon & Co. (843) 552-1358.  I have used him to regularly test several of my prevention valves (commercial and residential) as well as install new ones as needed."

If you are a company listed as a recommendation and your contact information is incorrect or missing please leave a comment at the end of the page and your contact information will be corrected.
